US-based Kenyan artistes over the weekend released a brand new song titled ‘One Kenya’, an audio release with the sole purpose of promoting good governance back home and avoiding the election violence that marred the country in 2007/2008.
Kenya has gone through five years since the post election violence, and going into another election since the bloody aftermath will be a turning point either way for the country. The artistes seek to sensitize people on what happened and what they don’t want to see happen, with the use of powerful lyrics and a careful selection of images to deliver the message home.
Here’s the press release to the track:
The song “One Kenya”, is a collaboration of Karisan Media Productions teaming up with the extraordinaire song writer and an outstanding vocalist Anne Wachera (Dallas, TX.), Kenya’s legendary Mercy Myra who is an amazing vocalist and song writer (Atlanta GA), Christine Mumbi (Dallas, TX.), whose unique voice mesmerizes her audience, Frank Nderi (Dallas TX), seasoned vocalist and music producer alongside Karisan Media Owner, executive producer and radio Journalist Njeri Kariuki (Dallas. TX).
The creation of this song was intended to bring diaspora vocalists together in show of unity and harmony relating to the outcry for better leadership and governance in our beloved country Kenya.
The plea for better governance is an entitlement to all. The cry of a better country has been heard over the years. The blame for poor leadership stems from the germinated crop of undeserving leaders. The moral of the story depicted from this song is as follows…
A story of the politician, who has stolen the essence of our humanity, who have selfishly declared war against his/her people by choosing to enrich himself/herself, while the Mwananchi suffers to the brink of non-existence. We as a people must stand tall and firm and elect a morally upright, sane, caring individual who practices servant leadership for the sake of those he/she leads. One who will do for the people, per the people for the greater good of our people.
Let’s join hands in advocating for better leadership in our beloved country Kenya! One People, One Nation, One Kenya.
