CHINEESE ARRESTED EATING SNAKE IN NAKURU

KWS guards yesterday arrested Chinese workers in Olkaria in Naivasha who were found cooking a snake. The three Chinese men and their Kenyan aide were arrested a few hours after killing the python. They skinned it before cutting it to pieces to make stew. The three foreigners are labourers at the Olkaria IV power plant construction. They were taken to Naivasha police station. A witness, said the foreigners had made a habit of visiting the nearby Hellsgate National Park to look for snakes. “We informed the KWS officers who arrested the Chinese," said the witness. Naivasha deputy police boss Paul Korir said that the four will be taken to court today. “KWS officers acting on a tip off found four men including three Chinese men cooking a snake," said Korir. He said it is against Kenyan law that is why they were arrested. Korir said the four had been given cash bail pending their case. Meanwhile, tens of acres of grassland at Mt Longonot National park were burnt after a fire broke out. The animals were displaced before KWS officers and wananchi put off the fire. “We suspect the fire was started by charcoal burners," said a junior officer. He said that it was normal for fire to break out in the park during the dry season where the vegetation was very dry.
