MILITARY TO BE DEPLOYED IN TANA DELTA .. Kimaiyo

IN_PICTURES » Inspector General of Police David Kimaiyo says he will seek the intervention of the military to quell the chaos in Tana River where 22 people have been killed in the past two days

The Police chief says the violence is politically motivated but investigators are unable to find evidence linking local leaders to it.
At a press conference this morning, Police Spokesman Eric Kiraithe announced that Kimaiyo will also be seeking the intervention of the Witness Protection Agency to assist CID officers compiling charges against some of the suspects.
Kimaiyo says it is increasingly becoming difficult to conduct investigations in Tana River because the local community is too secretive and has been harbouring criminals. Already, police have prosecuted 35 suspects since violence started.
