At the time when the news about the suicide hit the airwaves, a lot people wondered why the son of a Finance Minister would take his life. What was he lacking?
The real reason behind the suicide is that the minister had been caught by his 23-year-old late son having sex with his girlfriend in the comfort of their living room.
That incident had driven the late Brian Njeru Karanga too way crazy to the extent of taking his life. He could not live with the thought in his mind. How could his own father do that? The betrayal by his father and girlfriend was a double tragedy.
In light of that fact, the people of Kirinyaga county could not stand such a person as their governor. The act was and is still a taboo in not only the Kikuyu community but also a taboo among all communities in Kenya. So they failed him terribly. This was inaproapriate and unacceptable.
Ndathi garnered 39,103 votes against Githae’s 29,532 following the completion of the final tally.
A 10 thousand difference in votes.
According to the family spokesperson, Dr. Peter Githae, the circumstances surrounding the death still remain unclear. He said that the news was very shocking to both family and friends and called for respect to the mourners until the post mortem results were out.
Up to now the reasons for his action have not yet been established and the police by now have given up investigating the matter.
The late Brian was the third born of the Hon. Githae and died at the age of 23 years.
At the time of his death he was a fourth year student at the University of Nairobi (UoN) where he was pursuing a Bachelors degree in Computer Science. His body was found in their Runda Home on the morning of Thursday 17th May,2012 and it was alleged that he had committed suicide.

with the bereaved to offer their Final respect to Brian little did they know about the secret reason of the boy’s suicide.
